PEARL OF AFRICA GOLF SERIES: SPORT MEETS TRAVEL
Uganda is bringing sport and tourism together through the Pearl of Africa Golf Series 2026, happening every year. The tournament brings professional and elite amateur golfers together while giving visitors an opportunity to experience Uganda beyond its traditional wildlife attractions.
The Pearl of Africa Golf Series – Kigo Leg is takes place in September at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, adding another sporting experience to Uganda’s tourism and events calendar. The event is part of the Pearl of Africa Golf Series and brings players and spectators together in one of Uganda’s scenic lakeside locations.
Sports events such as golf tournaments can contribute to tourism by attracting participants and visitors who spend on accommodation, transport, dining and leisure activities. Kigo’s location also allows visitors to combine the sporting experience with relaxation and exploration around Lake Victoria and Kampala.
More than a golf tournament, the series is being used to showcase Uganda as a destination for sports tourism, connecting competitive golf with the country's scenery, culture and hospitality. As golfers and visitors gather in Entebbe, they can also discover the city's lakeside attractions, the shores of Lake Victoria and other experiences around the area.
Golf brings the competition — Uganda brings the experience. For Uganda’s tourism industry, sport is becoming another route through which visitors discover the Pearl of Africa.
